Three ideas.

1. Try moving through Pamlico Sound.

2. The artillery at Ft. Clark may have starved, leaving an infantry-only garrison behind.

3. Add in the blockade fleet.

P.S. Repeated kudos to Jarkko for this grand exploit.

I was wondering, Columbiad and Rodman guns were large seacoast guns, however in the game there are Columbiad (CSA) and Rodman (Union) batteries of field artillery, so I was wondering what exactly represent those batteries? Rodman guns represent 30 & 40 lb siege rifles. Rodman had nothing to do with...

Elite infantry is provided by event, the only elite infantry you can build is marines. Skirmishers aka sharpshooters provide a combat initiative bonus to whatever unit they are part of. Elite units provided by event will often include a sharpshooter element. Add one of these units or an independent ...

I should've said that sailors can combine with them. The sailor's TO&E has a free slot for line infantry.

Ok, I should have been more precise about what I meant by a fort, I meant a coastal fortification made of brick or stone with a large battery of coastal guns, significantly different from the modest forts built during the war you cite. Fort Walker, for instance, had a single 10" columbiad gun in it...

I avoid using that one in debate. It was smashed by shore batteries ... The rebs kept a garrison there till almost the end of the war ... And they even used the rubble to repel an amphibious assault, so I wouldn't call it entirely useless.

SIGH.

Fort Walker
Fort Hindman
Fort Clark
Fort Henry

Of course, troops were available to accept the surrender of several of those. That doesn't mean they made any significant contribution to reducing those forts.

Sharpshooter regiments are represented with 250 men, IIRC. IME, they are more fragile in combat than any other unit except militia, but their presence is vital to causing extra enemy casualties. I think that adequately represents the 2-company issue. They were generally used as snipers rather than a...

I don't think that you can go soley off a states population for available units. I think you also need to look at what the percentage of a states total population versus the troops that were actually raised as well. Florida had the lowest population of any Confederate state. It sent the least troop...

Bory's 50,000 should be getting pretty hungry even with the depot at Baltimore. Leave about 70,000 under your two <ahem> "best" available generals to continue the s...

This is meant to model the fact that most southern cavalry horses were seriously undernourished by mid-war. Substitution would be fairly easy.
