I find the 2D icons more useful, but I really don't like the new unit base and it keeps making me switch over to 3D, until I miss the portraits too much.

I tried the demo channel scenario, and won after a shaky start. I liked the ability to fine tune the orders, I had small ships stationed at all the harbours with the big fleets sitting behind them in the channel waiting to intercept any French fleet which tried to break out... wonderful :) How does ...

In some scenarios, you have to crank the AI aggressivity in the Options Window, AI, otherwise it will acts more optimally than what happened historically, ie when the opposing side is too strong to achieve a significant result, the AI will revert to the defensive slightly too early. Perhaps a new o...

First impressions are... a little negative. The art style, though similar to the previous games, just feels like a bit of a step back. Can't really put my finger on it, though there are some obvious points, such as blue command icons on blue French commanders being nigh on impossible to see. BoA was...

Supply is generated each turn by regions, with an amount expressed in supply chips (SC). A SC can be of 2 types: the full one, which holds 5 general supply points (food and water) and 2 ammo points, and the basic one, which hold only 5 general supply points. The countryside of a region, along with ...

I won the scenario! Feeling lucky I won it as the Americans (it's hard to lose) and then I pushed on and tried another scenario based in the South (forget the name) and won that after a shaky start. Go me! :) Hopefully in the longer campaigns some of the deeper elements will come to bear. Right now ...

Hey :) I joined up here soon after it came out, but the early versions had some issues with hyper-threading, so I went away for a while. Am I missing how to board and move? I tried to do this on my first attempt at the scenario and the fleet left without the army, so I assumed I had to board for a t...

Help me through my first scenario

I bought BoA when it first came out, but due to some performance issues it has been sitting on the shelf until now, when I find myself with a laptop and plenty of free time. So I've been giving it a crack, trying the tutorial and reading the manual. Problem is, I'm finding plenty of elements I just ...

I contacted Steam support about the issue and got the following response:

Thank you for contacting Steam Support.

We release patches for games after they are provided to us by the publisher. The publisher has our contact information and can contact us about applying the patch.

Ah, no, when I loaded it was using 1.10d.

Damn you Steam! Don't start becoming D2D!

Thanks, your support remains as amazing as ever :) I've gone and grabbed it through Steam. I'm a bit of a Steam fan, and I like the idea of being able to carry the game with me in the way Steam allows. The game seems a lot smoother now, and I've got hyperthreading on, so great job! Just experimentin...

I bought BoA some time ago, but can't seem to find my order slip. What address would it have come from?

BTW, the BoA site is incredibly broken with most pages failing, and the English order links take you to a French site.

Can you register your copy against Steam? It doesn't look that way, but I'd rather hoped...

This appears to be an issue caused by Hyper-Threading.

Scrolling request

Two things I'd like to see in the future 1. Ability to change the speed of scrolling. 2. Ability to remove the pause before the game starts scrolling (you need to leave the mouse at windows edge for a second before it starts). Mouse maniacs like myself would prefer to be able to kick off scrolling i...

My framerate is when I am just sitting there, not moving screen or mouse. I defrag my hard drive at least weekly, and did so just yesterday (I defrag after installing or removing anything). My swap file is 3GB split across two dirves, 1.5GB on each (Windows picks which file to use depending on disk ...

I enabled the debug info and found that, when I viewed the inner-territories (somewhere towards the west, lots of woods, basically nothing but land), I had an FPS count of around 10 with a mouse response of 82ms. When I scrolled all the way to the east of the map (the sea) I got around 22 with a res...

Yes, one of the things I want to test is whether my mouse drivers are having an effect. I've got some bog standard mice laying around so will give them a whirl as well and get back to you once I have more info.

I've got a 3Ghz P4 with 1GB RAM and a 128MB Radeon 9800 Pro, but I find that at 1600x1200 the mouse feels a little laggy in the dense regions. High Mem and Textures init were already checked for me. I enabled pre-chaching as I don't like in-game hitches :) Haven't defragged yet I admit, so I'll give...
