Re: Dealing with Fortress Monroe as the CS of A

I disagree with Xeja, in part.

Fort Monroe is worth taking as the CSA if you can wing it. It unlocks significant production for Richmond, as Richmond will no longer be blockaded.

Just don't expect to get whatever you put in the fort out, as the Union Navy will likely block your escape off.

Use of artillery

So, As the union I've been rolling corps with 1 division of artillery, but I have been neglecting artillery in my infantry divisions? Is this a mistake? I have been doing this for two reasons: 1) not enough artillery do roll a full artillery division and provide artillery in my infantry divisions; a...

Level 7 entrenchment

How the hell do I combat this?

It's almost 1864 and we're stalemated. Short of maneuvering out of position, is there any possible way to defeat a strong enemy with a lvl 7 entrenchment bonus?

Union Economy

I'm currently involved in a PBEM with a friend nearing on 1864 and I clearly failed to build up my industry (as the Union). Under the Interior tab, how do I know what builds will generate the most money income going forward? Additionally, besides placing transports in the merchant square, how do I f...

Army Commanders Not Leading Battles

I'm sure this has been discussed somewhere at sometime, but I was unable to locate it: With regards to army commanders, my preference (At least with the Union) is to separate the army commander from any corps stack and make him his own independent stack, with perhaps an HQ or some other bonus unit. ...

Number of divisions within corps

Hello all, Is it more advantageous to have, say, 3 divisions at 75% strength instead of 2 divisions at 100% strength? How does the number of divisions in a corps affect battle mechanics? I'm essentially trying to determine whether it's better to have 3 corps with 2 divisions each, or 2 corps with 3 ...

Support Elements (like Army HQs)

Probably a dumb question, BUT:

Do army HQs, Hospitals, etc pass down their bonuses to corps level if they are placed in the army stack? I'm assuming they do not, but wanted to confirm.

As always, much thanks for any guidance.

Thank you!!

It never ceases to amaze me the responsiveness of this forum. If it wasn't for this forum, I would have likely abandoned this game long ago!

Determining cost breakdown for units; Combat Power in Objectives Screen

Hello! How do I pull up information demonstrating the cost breakdown for a unit? Specifically, I want to be able to see how much inflation is increasing the cost of the unit, or how much cheaper a unit is due to deflation. For example, I want to buy an ironclad and before doing so, I want to see how...

Thank you for taking the time to write this well thoughtout and detailed response. That was precisely the sort of strategic thinking I was looking for. I had no idea a stockade could block the opposition from marching thru. Thank you!

Lightbrave,

Since I have not posted enough, the forum system will not allow me to respond to your private message. Shoot me your email and I will email you about multiplayer (PBEM). Thanks!

Re: Manassas Conceded without a shot?!

I feel like a COMPLETE idiot. But yes, I accidentally moved the Army haha!!! I guess a side question while we're at it: I am having difficulty stemming the union blue tide. After the union makes their initial attack on Harper's Ferry for example and I win that battle, the next stack just moves throu...

I'd be happy to PBEM. I'm fairly new to the game, so perhaps it would make for perfect symmetry :bonk:

Manassas Conceded without a shot?!

Hello all, My Confederate Army of the Potomac has been holding firm at Manassas junction from April 1861 to Oct 1861. In Oct 1861, a 121 power force moved in. P.G.T. Beauregard and his 900 power force with 3 entrenchment and entrenchment card bonus, simply left the region and parked himself at Culpe...

Re: Horse Artilllery and 6 lb guns

I apologize if this double posts (for some reason it doesn't seem to have posted): 6 lb and horse artillery are the same essentially. The key difference being, horse artillery moves at the rate of "medium cavalry" while 6 lb artillery moves at a "wheels" pace ( much slower). Henc...

Re: Horse Artilllery and 6 lb guns

Hey bud, Horse artillery are 6lbs with "extra wheels" :dada: so to speak. Some odf their stats from normal 6 lbs artillery might slightly differ, but they're essentially the same. The one big difference being mobility. Horse artillery receive "medium cavalry" mobility, while norm...
