Re: 2 questions regarding HQ

In August and September 1914, you can push your luck quite a bit, and to a lesser extent through the rest of 1914, but after that it becomes a 1-2 regions at a time type of thing. This is WAD to simulate WW1 trench warfare setting in. Great. French forces still didn't attacked, this front need to b...

Re: 2 questions regarding HQ

Durk is referring to the "March to the Sound of the Guns" feature of the AGE engine. If a combat occurs, any friendly stacks adjacent to the combat have a chance of coming to join the combat if they pass certain checks. This chance is much higher (+50 IIRC) if they are part of the same OO...

Re: 2 questions regarding HQ

Thinking about the relationship of headquarters in EAW is kind of different from other AGEOD games. Think of the GHQ as the headquarters which provides all bonuses to all armies. Think also of all Corps being subordinate to all adjacent Armies. So in the situation you describe, each German army wil...

2 questions regarding HQ

Well, it is said that GHQ is giving some bonuses when their armies are in range. I am interested to know is the same for Armies regarding it's Corps - do they need to be in range of ArmiesHQ or? BTW, other confusing thing and forgive me if I am asking stupid question but how can player see really si...

Re: advice for beginner :)

You can "lock" each stack if you are having problems with too many in a region, just right click on the unit's tab in the stack panel at the bottom of the screen. They won't merge with anything if you inadvertently drop them on another stack then. You can see where each corps is going aft...

Re: Congratulate AGEod

Good we're on the same side then. :) My great grandfather fought Libya in deserts, during the time 7 years of active duty was compulsory. 1- As with other AGEOD games it is better to use max command limit. 24 in corps +50 armies as far as I remember. May depend on strategic rating of a leader. Supp...

Re: Congratulate AGEod

Once you find a reliable PBEM partner I think interface wouldn't be a problem and the learning curve. Wargames demand patience and by playing against an opponent it can cause a stress. Unlike Paradox games -they are played by mainstream gamers for fun; forming nations, customising culture groups- t...

Re: Congratulate AGEod

Enjoy playing wargames, whichever you choose ;) With respect to Ageod games, there are differences between them but also are based in the same engine, you may check the answer by arsan to this thread regarding turn checklist http://www.ageod-forum.com/viewtopic.php?f=306&t=50146&hilit=ledge...

Re: Congratulate AGEod

You change your mind fast von Conrad. 4 days ago TEAW was the best Great War game and now it is not?! Well, you are right. I REALLY like the game. I am fallen in love with this map, and there are many, many neat details that we wargamers and history lovers love. I have deep knowledge of WW1 so that...

Re: Congratulate AGEod

Sorry to hear you've stopped playing it Conrad. The AGE engine does have its quirks, and it's been around quite a long time now (about 10 years) so it doesn't have all the nice bells and whistles. It was also largely coded by Pocus on his own, which is no small feat. But what AGE has going for it, ...

Re: Congratulate AGEod

Thanks! This game was a heck of a lot of fun to develop too. I still fondly remember how it all started - in December 2011 I started messing around with a main menu screen using WW1 leader portraits as something to do on Christmas break, and that ultimately led to doing a Guns of August short mod o...

Re: advice for beginner :)

This is a challenging game. Try to learn the command structure, this is actually a good thing to read in the game manual as it is different from most games. The deployment to take the East is not stupid, you simply need to be very aggressive to knock back the Russians. My suggestion is to start wit...
