Re: Animated Battle Maps

As for the animated battle maps, I was thinking more along the lines of a generic, one size fits all, kinda thing. A purely aesthetic addition to give the game a bit more spit & polish :)

Re: Animated Battle Maps

Troubles with my connection this morning prevent me from looking at the video in detail, but what I did see looked like what I've seen on maps like this: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/8/81/First_Battle_of_Bull_Run_Map3.jpg For something that detailed, a layer would have to be added...

Re: Animated Battle Maps

im realy not sure, what exactly you mean. maybe you could explane it more detailed. Well, when two forces meet to battle it'd cut to an animated battle map (something similar to what is featured in the YouTube video I shared) rather just watching a rather bland and featureless battle meter. I was w...

Re: Animated Battle Maps

I should have specified at the beginning of this post that I meant using these animated battle maps to watch the battle unfold rather than the meter. Not that I have any real issue with the meter, but it is a little bland.

Can I mix regiments from various states to form a brigade? Say, 2 from Virginia and 2 from Georgia?

Re: I'm bored playing this AI.

Rather than the play by email system, which seems quite cumbersome to me, was online player vs player never an option here? Could that be done?

Animated Battle Maps

I'm wondering how many of you have seen these animated battle maps featured in the YouTube videos of the American Battlefield trust? Could they somehow be incorporated into a game like this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vlJUuNny9mc&t=1198s If you haven't seem them then take a gander.

Re: I'm bored playing this AI.

If you want to avoid pbem altogether, try playing both sides. It works; I've done it for years. How do you go about doing that exactly? How does that work? I am picking up on Straight Arrow's comment for two reasons, he and I do have fun in pbem play, which is nice for many players, but also like S...

Re: I'm bored playing this AI.

I'm very hesitant to do PBEM on top of it just being a lousy and slow process. Generally for a game like this I find people to be extremely gamey and use a lot of cheap tricks and uber-optimization taking it down to a science. I can envision small raiding parties cutting my faction apart throughout...

Re: I'm bored playing this AI.

The Union AI has always been very Virginia-centric. It'll build numerous large armies around Washington D.C. while often largely neglecting the other theatres, which in my opinion should be just as engrossing as the 'Virginia theatre'. As I see it, the two biggest problems as the Confederate player ...

At the moment, due to an unforeseen global stagnation, it is neither. But there were and are still genuine but guarded hopes of the possibility of something official.

Re: Civil War III - To be or not to be?

The costs are mostly coming from development salaries, even if art and graphics might need a decent budget, that's not the main cost. So just figure out the price of 1 to 3 developers for 12 to 24 months (sometime 36) in your country, depending of the scope of the game. Now CW3 would be able to ben...
