Re: Still looking for an opponent

I'm trying to finish up the semester (teacher, not student) and can't commit to anything until after Christmas proper.

Hope you find an opponent before then.

Have fun,

Re: Questions From a Newcomer

arty present is always better than not....

You do get the quality that you pay for....

I'm not sure if small bore arty can make a river impassable but it should engage flatboats transporting troops and, thus, hinder (or lengthen) the transit time.

Re: Trying to love game but overwhelmed

Welcome! Yes, this game is.....INTENSE, and for that reason I sometimes have to walk away for hours (or days) before returning. IMO, the magnitude of my errors just grates on me. And, it's not easy to redo a turn. Even when I've tried, I forget many of the dozens, hundreds, or thousands little instr...

Re: Early Confederate organization

Adding generals to early stacks is one way potentially to lessen the penalty. But, the above suggestion of creating single unit divisions (until divisions become available) is by far the better way.

Re: Questions From a Newcomer

Welcome. I'm a casual player vs the AI and haven't done any PBEMs--but love the game nonetheless. So, I'll get you started until the heavyweights weigh in... I've seen several folks mention training volunteers and militia into regular infantry. How does one do this? CSA has very limited opportunity ...

I'm on Steam, so it's 1.06.1

It crashes the first time (every time) I load, then runs on the second load....

And, yes, the update is installed

Has the AI gotten tougher?

Has the AI gotten tougher? I've recently returned to playing after a several month absence. Playing as the Union, I was amazed at how much more aggressively the CSA is now playing (compared to memory of then). Is this just a figment of my imagination or has the AI, indeed, gotten better? thanks

I've never tried extended pool, due to the warning. I always engage the upper levels of "traffic penalty"; and, I stopped using "auto-replacements" since it eats up too much turn resources. Manual only for me.

Yes. Open the ledger and select "Forces." This page has two sides with various filters (like aacw). I believe it's the F1 key.

Hello! I played ACW some, but now I want to jump in to this. Are there any guides to general strategy and game play? I know there is the manual, but with six patches out, I imagine some of the manual is out-of-date. Thanks! Be sure to read through the following thread: http://www.ageod-forum.com/sh...

I posted a while back that the naval commanders actually decrease the runners ability to evade contact. I'm not familiar with the actual game mechanics, but from what I understand the Union Blockade should get an opportunity to detect each stack of runners each turn. So more stacks of runners means...

From the TW perspective, I agree. Being able to improve the economic structure (significantly so) appeals to me. The Union does not appear to outperform the CSA that much with regard to cash, conscripts, or eventual WS.

Like Durk, my explanation is different... 1) the maps in CW2 are far superior to those of AACW. The clarity (and lack of clutter) is amazing. 2) the fantastic ability to build troops where I want them. No more lost builds because a production center succumbed to attack. 3) several superior regional ...

Had it not been for Steam's sale of Civil War 2, I'd never known about AGEOD games. So, I think that Steam offers a tremendous marketing/advertising boon for a developer. Indeed, after I bought the AGEOD titles on the latest Steam sale, I then went to AGEOD's site and bought several others at retail...

Must admit it was the tortuous process of trying to create a cohesive army that made me give up on this game and it's predecessor. Went back to Gary Grigsby's ACW.
