Re: WIA French and Indian war PBEM

Durk, thanks for jumping in.

I just realized my WIA2 installation files are on another PC tucked deep away in a closet. So I'll step aside for a second and let you have the game :)

Unless the original poster is gone and you still need an opponent a few days later.

Sure, why not. Userid at gmail com for detail. Or PM here, but that would be slower.

To players processing the turn:

Please always recheck Dropbox prior to actually running a turn.

Re: British Foreign Office Communique

Once we've finished with our aggression against our Prussian relatives, we'll proceed to preemptive attacks against any other nation building a navy or holding colonies we would like to have, including but not limited to, France, Spain, Belgium, Austria, Russia, China, Japan and even the United Sta...

Re: *General Player to Player Comments

Well, then I believe we should first define how many countries are open and then advertise on the forum. This game is really too good to be played just by a few of us. So, who else is still in besides me, France and Germany? I am still in as Great Britain! China is faithfully limping along as well.

Retreat mechanics

Does anyone else feel like retreat mechanics are a bit off in WON? It's now the second time that I've watched my armies get up and walk away from entrenchments, despite orders to hold at all costs. Not a single bullet is fired, not a single man lost. They just, well, walk away. And the odds are not ...

1.03 June 7th - SPA can't build Colonial Lancers

Similar to good old 1.00 Russian Cossack bug - in 1.03 Spain can't build Colonial lancers anywhere.

What were the game settings? A veteran activation + traffic penalty could have easily frozen your Ney in place while slowing Murat and Davout.

Out of sheer curiosity, have you tried replaying that battle to see what else could happen?

Develop territory is one of the most important aspects of this game. As French, it allows you - over time - to create super-highways to move troops much faster from one edge of your empire to another. As Coalition, it is vital to speed up arrival of Russians troops. Pick one route that is the most i...

If not, I'll work on it, but as I've tried to mention and be clear about, it'll take some time for me to to sort out. I went ahead and modified the CHI reforms file in DB. All I di...

So at a risk of sounding like a nag... can China gain an ability to build roads please? I mean, Colombia can do that. :) And schools, trading posts, all of that would be nice too. After all, it's a Confucian culture with a long Silk Road history... :)

So how's everyone's production holding up so far? I'm noticing that most countries seem to be awash with extra goods - not just in this game either - and I suspect wastage/corruption are getting a plentiful meal every turn. Yes, there are technologies in the pipeline to boost up national demands, bu...

There will be quite a few more revotls coming up, don't worry...consider the NM drop as "natural" peasant discontent for your armies exactions... :w00t: I see :) Still, it would be nice to do something to remedy that. FYI, Taïping will NEVER sign peace with China, it will go on and on with rebellions, unrest, "allied rebellions" (e.g. Nien bandits in Central China, rebelllion in the sinkiang, etc..), until some time...and some conditions are met: Taiping leader has died, year is around 1864 and Ningguo (Nanking)...

China is requesting GM intervention to force peace with Taiping. It's the third time around that we have wiped all of them, down to the last man and ox wagon. War score is in +60s, but they won't reply to any proposals.

Just an observer's note... both sides should not have been victors, walking away with over 800 prestige each. What amounted to essentially a draw, should have meant no gain for either side.

As long as I'm running the turns, I'll continue to fill in any of the main nations who miss a turn with a blank turn, which should minimize any damage that comes from missing a turn or two! It's a recent Windows bug. The curvy dash becomes a regular one. A second to fix but you have to be looking out for it every time.
