Re: Taxes, taxes, taxes...

Taxes actually help inflation (unless im mistaken) . As CSA, I always do taxes. I might be wrong on this as well but i find it more doable to get Union morale very low instead of capping CSA morale to victory. Any thoughts on this?

George McClellan

Playing Union and McClellan has disappeared. Its Jan 1864. Im assuming it has something to do with 1864 elections. Does he always disappear at this time? Also, do I get him back after Lincoln is re-elected?

Re: Division composition question

Each division is comprised as 17 units. You have a Corps and currently have 39 units. Is it better to have 3 divisions with 13 units each or ……….. 2 divisions with 17 units and 1 division with 5 units?

Points to know for the Confederates

In the points to know it mentions to have a reactionary force for a counter attack on a coastal invasion. It mentions a 1,000 power division. How is the accomplished with a division?

River defense

Thinking about a post i did a while back about spliting up coastal artillary in the southern forts, I thought of another idea based on a situation im in at the moment. I have a Corps sitting on the west side of the Mississippi river just below Cairo. I moved some ships down towards Nashville (im pla...

Iv tried doing that before. The Corps "structure" is gone as soon as you board a ship. Splitting up ships wouldn't work.

Re: Blockade Runner

Lol.... seems kinda weird that a "Blockade Runner" trait wouldn't be best used in the blockade. Also, though, I seem to remember reading somewhere that is was more efficient to put all your ships in the shipping lanes to take cash away from Union. That it outweighed any cash you bring in t...

Blockade Runner

Josiah Tattnall - Has the "Blockade Runner" trait. Some questions...… 1. Will he be just as effective in the shipping lanes as he would the blockade (is it better to get money and supply back to the CSA or better to keep Union from receiving such? 2. Is it more efficient to have all my Bri...

Building a flatboat in Southeastern California

Im able to build a flatboat on the West coast as far down as Southern California. I control Southeastern California but cannot build a boat. In the thread of Points to know for the Union side, on point 18, it says to build one there. Am I suppose to build one then move it to Southeastern California ...

I think the answer is no but I want to make sure. Is the option to Charter Merchants under the "Various" tab worth the return. Costs $100 and plus 1 price variation. You get 3 new merchant squadrons. Is it worth the return?

Re: Civil War 3 suggestion that I like so much I'm posting it again ;)

The problem is that Corps wont fight together without a commander. The current system would be fine if 2 corps could coordinate within a battle without an army commander there. That's the problem with the South in my opinion. Federal Army commanders can maneuver easily without breaking up an army an...

Re: Civil War 3 suggestion that I like so much I'm posting it again ;)

I would like to be able to have lesser generals be appointed to Army Commander. This is just a hypothetical. Without promotion the Confederates only have 4 Commanders that can control an Army. In my opinion, the South needs at least that many armies. 2 in Virginia and 2 in Tennessee. That being said...

Has anybody ever done testing on this? How many days does it speed up the process. Also, would a division repair a rail faster than a Regiment?

Contraband

Says they rebuild rails faster. How is this relevant when rails are built in 1 turn or they are not. Only thing I can think of is that if your railing someone through a line that's broken maybe it gets built faster but then my question is how fast are rails built with them and without them?

Came across this by accident

Not sure I have ever read this on the forums but by accident I merged 2 militia units together. Never knew you could do that. You can do it will volunteers as well. Also, you can merge a volunteer unit and a militia unit together. Cant figure out how to undo it though. Anybody else know how?

Re: Postures and Blockades

Thanks Gray! Quick question - Do you build more river ships? Also, I am sure you have operations in the West and Far West. Just out of curiosity, when do you usually start to really push on Richmond? I don't see how the Union could be a serious threat to it in 1861. Most of what is going on in my cu...

Ill look at it in more detail later. Need to go to bed at the moment but a few things I noticed is that the Confederate Commander is a far superior General to yours especially when he is on Defense. Another thing I noticed is that although you have about double the men, you don't have "double&q...

Re: Have battle, I do not understand the outcome.

Entrenchment, River Crossings, Commanders, Weather, Terrain. Probably some other factors as well. Yeah, send a screen shot of the battle result and I can probably give you an educated guess but I may have to defer to the more experienced players.
