Re: WoN current state

If you are crashing that regularly, then I well understand your frustration. My original campaign was on a Windows 8 platform and my second on a newer system running windows 10, which had few problems. So... I can only conclude that the many of the crash issues are in terms of the system environment...

Re: WoN current state

I am sorry but I beg to differ in terms of your evaluation of this game. Having played two complete campaigns games and (documenting them earlier in this forum), I know of no finer game on the period. This game truly requires players to utilize Napoleonic Grand Tactics, and to understand the persona...

Re: Replacements

Not sure if I have the answer for you, but it is partially addressed by Phoenix above. It is common to push forward with your stronger advanced corps such as France's 3rd, 4th and 5th corps. They do the brunt of the fighting and take losses. But since they have better commanders and better units, yo...

Re: French Strategy in Spain

Hi: I am a bit confused with this post. There is no Spanish Scenario as part of Wars of Napoleon, but of course you can invade Spain as part of one of the campaign games. Therefore, I don't know how you would start with only Madrid, since you have to declare War on Spain and then invade it. Is there...

Re: Is the AI game worth trying?

Phoenix: I think that your question has not gotten responses because others may not want to put their neck on the line by recommending the campaign game because some have had problems with it. Let me summarize my experiences which has been to complete two full games. * the game stretches your comput...

Borodino scenario: Unpredictable and fun

Let me start this post by thanking Tallebois for mentioning this scenario and both Captain Orso and Durk for helping me find it. The first half of the SuperBowl was fun, but Justin Timberlake’s half time show bored the hell out of me, and I decided to give Borodino a try. In most cases, having a str...

Re: Is just playing scenarios - e.g. Borodino any good

Perhaps the same question as above. I found the Borodino scenario within the directory, but it does not show when I load the game and try a new game, so how can I load the scenario if it is not showing within the options for either the short scenarios or the campaign scenarios?

@Captain Orso: Thank you, your advice helped me find the Russian-Swedish conflict but I am unable to find a Borodino scenario/campaign that was mentioned at the start of this thread. Any help you can offer with this?

I have never see this scenario. I just downloaded the Feb 2017 beta and it did not appear so it is curious that you have such a scenario. I would have liked to try it.

Re: Stuck on Turn 102 yikes !

My experience with this game and when I played it on a windows 8 platform. (Windows 10 runs much better for me). - go back the number of saved games that the system is retaining. (I usually set it to 6, and when I start my next campaign may set it to 9. - If you get an error, it may not crash, but i...

Re: NM gain from winning battles

I think you will find that the Campaign game is a whole different ball game than the scenarios. Although you might want to crank the difficulty level up at least one level. In the Campaign it is about preservation of your armies as well as winning the battles and taking and holding the strategic cit...

Re: Viewing in City

It is hard to say without knowing the city and the nation he belongs to. If it is a country which it is logical that you will Ally with, then he may activate and become useful once that nation joins your coalition. Or if you successfully request an expeditionary force from that allied nation, he may...

Re: Commanding another nation's troops

Never tried it from the Coalition side, but the way it works on the French side is that you use the diplomacy option to request expeditionary forces to be given to England from Portugal. Once they have given you forces, you should be able to command them by generals who have the ability to command t...

Re: Not sure what to do next, need some guidance

Evan of Saxony: Sorry you had that error that stopped you. You might try adjusting the setting of how many turns it saves. I use 6, but even 9 would not be out of order. Going back a few turns in order to bypass a corrupted file is rough, but it is better than starting all over again. I'm curious wh...

Re: Not sure what to do next, need some guidance

Evan of Saxony: Thanks for sharing your game progress. I find what you say interesting. Ofen/Budapest is very deep in into Austrian territory to be there so early.. September. Also, that it is Lauristan and Mortier there. in the historical setup Lauristan has an expeditionary force poised to sail fr...

A work around might be to just delete the program, reload it from Steam and then go immediately into the Campaign game.

It is going to feel like the Tsunami rolled over you. You must be playing the larger of the two Campaign games which begins with the French a...

A couple of things that helped me are: 1. Disconnect from the internet and then shut down your virus control programs. 2. I had problems in a windows 7 environment but very few in a windows 10. When I had the older operating system, I had luck loading task manager and then shutting down a lot of the...

"Gamey?"... a good description. That flag denotes the military control of the area, not the political ownership and it is temporary only. After Russia has retreated back east, the territory will convert back to its political ownership. A good example of how this bears of game play is as th...

"Old Hickory" vs. "El Presidente" Bonaparte

I am sure that many of you would be enthusiastic over a set of expansion scenarios for Wars of Napoleon. 1808, 1809, 1812, 13 & 14 would all be interesting in differing ways. The scenarios included with Wars of Napoleon are well received and there is no doubt that scenario scale was preferable t...

This is why the multi-national commander skill is so valuable. You can integrate them into a division which is being run by a multinational general. Otherwise, use them for the towns that you are holding and garrisoning. They will fight on your behalf but will not be of as much battle strengthen wit...

You might try checking under stacks where your other units are. I don't recall in my most recent campaign that many swiss troops were offered...

Re: Rhine Confedoracy not working?

The land area is mostly what had been the Holy Roman Empire, from Frankfurt to Nuremberg. It does start out neutral, but your diplomatic efforts will pay off quickly and it will become a member of the French Alliance.
