Re: BLOCKADING NEW ORLEANS

Question, does any one know to modify the Harbor Exit Points for ports? It doesn't seem to be in the region file, but I'm not quite sure where else to look.

Re: Why did I lose this battle??

So I noticed in the screen shot, the Union force was organized into 3 divisions, while your force was still in a bunch of brigades. The Union CP cost was 12, where as yours looks like it could have been a lot higher (esp if you had a bunch of other loose units that we would have had to scroll down t...

Re: Shall I really left troops inside a City/Fortification?

Hello, I play as CSA. To defend Manassas I left 8 elements, 2 Generals and 2 supply wagons inside the city (posture defend/defend). They were entrenched only - no fortification of the city. To my big surprise the USA moved a big army stack (PWR >800) onto Manassas, but without attacking, sieging on...

Re: Premium for Volunteers Testing

I ran your tests on the Union side and confirmed your results. (Except I had a yield of 350 once for no bonus.) So it looks like the no bonus is a bit of a roll of the dice (and may well be impacted by NM) It also looks like the price is less than advertised. the $2 option yielded 750 at a cost of $...

Re: What do you think of Grand Tactician: Civil War

It is intresting, but I think it tries to do too much. It could be a great strategic level game, or a great tactical level game...but it seems to be struggling to be both at once. There is a reason that I keep coming back to ACWII.

Re: BLOCKADING NEW ORLEANS

Wondering back in to the forums after a bit of a time away... As noted, in the vanilla version of the game the only way to enter the lake is via New Orleans. So the Union would have to occupy the city first! Now if we are going to start modifying things, we should consider that there wasn't really a...

Re: Civil War III - To be or not to be?

For my two cents... 1. Re-focus the map. CW2 created a bigger map than CW2, but most of it is unused space. (Too bad there weren't the resources for a French intervention in Mexico DLC). I'd suggest a zoomed in approach. Similar map to CW1, but with CW2 number of regions. Gives some space to maneuve...

Re: Artillery Only Units

The target selection mechanics are a bit involved, but you want to put an arty only division in a stack with line units. Otherwise an enemy stack could target your arty only stack, which would be a bad day for the gunners.

Joe Hooker was fired as AoP commander, but he never lost his MG rank. You are right that he got further assignments out West. Burnside is another good example. After Fredericksburg, he retained his rank, got a command in Kentucky, and did well in the Knoxville campaign. He came back East for the Ove...

Out of curiosity, how did CW2 do financially (compared to other AGEOD titles?) I'm assuming it was profitable, and one could argue that the market that made it so is still out there.

In any event, I can't recall a case where historically a civil war general got demoted. The bad ones just got fired and then were never given major commands again.

Re: Train commanders and support units?

Just to complement what Fox said, remember that support units only give a bonus to the stack they are in. Support unit bonuses in the army commander stack don't trickle down to the attached corps stacks. So it's a waste to put support elements in a stack with no combat units to support! Welcome aboard

Nobody knows really. Perhaps it can be decided that it will be the subject of the next game of the new series using the Archon Engine from Slitherine. Just a quick question: Does the commanding general of an army actually need infantry and/or cavalry units (not including corps associated with said army) under their direct command, or is a headquarters staff, engineers, medics, etc, sufficient? Or would leaving the commanding general alone with ju...

Re: global production bonus or penalty event?

You can set up a work around with faction modifer (FacMods variables in Aliases ) and build a fmd (See GameData). Looks like the below can do the job $fmdPercStrucOutputEff= 79 // Relative modifier (in % of final value) to Structure Output efficiency (base 100, positive is good) (has scope) Regards...

To get production every 2 turns, you must add to gamelogic.opt : aseTurnFreqProd = 2 There is not cached file for gamelogic but the modification will be effective once you start the game. global production bonus or penalty event?

I was wondering if there was an event command for giving a faction a global production bonus or malus. I am aware of ChangeAssetsProd which changes production of specific assets by an integer value in a specific region. Is there a command to give a global 50% boost or reduction to a faction's produc...

Re: Naval engineers, and why you shouldn't buy them

I can definitely confirm that naval engineers speed up ship building, and the gain in noticable for the big ships. That said though, even the Union does not really need to build them given that you get them automatically when in the shipyards you would want to build anyway.

Do be effective, does the command have to be in the gamelogic.opt ?

If I want it to apply to 1 campaign, could I write it in an event file as an event specific to that campaign?
