That's due to the 1 round invasion delay. If you move any forces in KY after the other side declares an invasion, you lose massive amounts of cohesion. The penalty is lift the turn after the invasion. You can't even build in KY without the problem. Your forces will regain their cohesion slowly now ...

Yea, those pictures help put it all together. I also agree, those forces in Arkansas should make a great raiding force.

You pretty much hit the nail on the head. I get so caught up in the decision making and how you need to plan 5 moves ahead, and be able to adjust when you plan is foiled. I think the economic/political options are at the right level, not too much micromanagement.

I use the same strat as far as raising militia in all the border states, and buying line inf in the border states for most of 61. Securing Missouri, and kentucky, as well as organizing my army in MD are my usual goals for 61.

Eagle Games had one "The American Civil War", but they stopped making it about 4 years ago. I'm hooked on it, but can rarely find an opponent nowadays.

I didn't pay much attention to this until I won in sept 61 by taking washington with a mid size Corps. I agree with pepe on most points he has made.

Check the Wiki, read some of the strat posts and then play the first year of a game or four. Then start a new game once you are beginning to get everything down.

I know the ideal division only has one cav reg in it, but if i end up with 2 i usually don't mind. 3 or more is a waste i'd say.
