Re: New Game?

1. Slitherix just announced Field of Glory II: Medieval. http://www.slitherine.com/forum/viewtop ... 8&t=101809

2. Pocus stated that "Cooperating with RBS and Byzantines Games was definitively a nice plus for AGEOD".

Go figure...

Re: strategic/operational/tactical level

My last post wasn't about beta testing. Just about FOG: Empire infos already kown from the Twitch-Stream.
I do play most Ageod games, but I'm sorry to say that PBEM is not my cup of tea.
Did a little (beta) testing for Ageod in the past. Do so now as well.

Re: strategic/operational/tactical level

Don't forget it's the very first Ageod game with the new engine. I'd think for future games the scales of space and time (regional seize and turn span) may vary, depending on the game subject. This game is about "our" antique world. So it's better to compare it with AJE rather than with AC...

Re: Is this forum dead ?

Well, the good news is, the company Ageod still exists, Pocus and the 2 McNeils of Slitherine/Matrix are listed as officers. And they've got a new game engine and a new game in the pipline. But I'm sad PhilThib doesn't seem to be on board any longer. I hope he can make a living and has fun with his ...

Re: Poll. Future of the AGE engine.

Hard to tell, when there is not a single new engine based game to compare with. ... AFAIK this is not quite true. The Archon game engine was (I think - may well be wrong) originally developed from the Battle Academy games and is used in Pike and Shot and Field of Glory2. Now clearly those are all t...

Re: Poll. Future of the AGE engine.

I have redone the AI for the new engine, taking aspirations from the old Athena AI and improving things as I learned from that. Currently I would say the new AI is at least 6x time, perhaps 10x faster than the previous. And there will be multi-choices decisions in the first game :pouet: This is gre...

Re: Poll. Future of the AGE engine.

Hard to tell, when there is not a single new engine based game to compare with. How much "better" will the new Archon engine work with Ageod games? By "better" I mean performance, adaptivness and accessibility. And I suspect, it will be. Otherwise they would not change the engine...

Some (older) infos about Slitherixeod's new Archon engine:

Apparently it can be used for both, area and hex based games. So, it's up to the game developers to choose.

Re: Poll. New engine first game.

I'd like Ageod to lean more towards empire building no matter what era. So more grand strategy than operational art. Even if that does mean one month turns. But with a strong historical focus. I think, empire building is why Paradox games, Total War games plus Civilzation are the most popular "...

Re: Poll. To be or not to be hexed.

Didn't vote b/c it really depends on scale and era: All Ageod games I played (sans the Spanish Civil War and WOS) work just fine with areas. Besides To End all Wars. IMO WW1 (and WW2) with frontlines and huge troop numbers would be better represented by hexes. I find TEAW visually rather confusing. ...

We know nothing of which game Ageod will develop using the new engine or when will it come. Which will be your preference? You may choose only one option. I voted for WWII, Pacific War. Focus on military operations or on empire management. Either you have granular war-making and meaningless empire management (weekly tu...

Why weekly or bi-monthly turns? 1560 to 3120 turns for the grand campaign? In PON you don't have 60 years of never ending war needing to micromanage armies. There are not enough regions for sub-strategic, aka operational warfare. If I want to play the American Civil War on an operational scale I'm g...
