October 1914, playing CP, the game has CTD twice at the same point (during battle resolution), save files below.

Thank you Calvinus.

What of V Res K Corps, as it is independent I should be able to put it onto the board? My guess is that it still 'belongs' to its former Army.

it would actually be more realistic to tie McDowell's demise to the failure to satisfy the "1861 Threaten Richmond" events. If McDowell had won at Bull Run, no doubt the politicians would have demanded Bigger and Better Victories, and he would have been pushed until his inexperienced army came unst...

Post-Combat Army Problems

[1.06d - playing CP] August 1914: the French have already attacked and besieged Saarburg, now they attack VI and VII Armies in Strassburg. There are also several battles elsewhere. September (save game attached): the Armies in Strassburg get a number of reinforcements announced by telegram (7 in all...

[1.06d] Same here, playing CP, ships cannot get to port (even reinforcements placed in a sea area with ports). ------------------- Also there seem to be movement restrictions, for instance... Spee cannot get into the Atlantic, in fact a couple of sea areas north of New Zealand seems to be as near as...

formation of units into divisions, corps, and armies These are possible including new army creation for inactive leaders, except for division formation, as inactive leaders can only take on one brigade/unit, which seems a bit anomalous. It would be good to see inactive leaders able to form division...

Out of interest how do the Union win in '63 in PBEM (and in the '61 full campaign game)? Do they just overwhelm Richmond regardless of anything else? The Union, provided they are not making any divisions out of militia + artillery and are having a serious go at Vicksburg and points south in Mississi...

The Confederates have to capture Norfolk True and far better put than I managed! they should make Sherman appear where ever he first showed up "Grant stood by me when I was crazy, and I stood by him when he was drunk, and now we stand by each other" as Sherman is supposed to have said. Sherman turning up on Grant's Staff is an event-driven thing (I think) which will not happen if Grant is already dead. Bit like playing the '61 campaign with the AI switched off - Buchanan and the Virginia do not appear because the AI cannot process the event, so Dahlgren and the Monitor do not appe...

The number of events drawn at start is variable - if both Germany and Austria choose "Bon Moral" and "Evénements" they usually seem to get get 8-12.

So with both countries choosing "Voluntaires et Munitions" they might draw 2-6.

Not sure about unhistorical - the Virginia did all her fighting in the area on the ACW map named the James Estuary (the eastern end of which is actually the Hampton Roads). She never came within gunshot range of Fort Monroe (or of Fort Wool, another Union fort guarding the entrance to the Roads) as ...

Bombard Passing Ships

[1.13b + 1.13e RC1 6 April] Just a note that the "Bombard Passing Ships" button still works the wrong way round. IMHO the functioning is correct (as suggested at the end of this thread ) and bombardment should be a player decision not a default. Removing the red stripe from the button graphic (a nic...

Thank you for this, SkyWestNM, a very useful anaysis. On a side note, also worth being careful about sending divisions to join a command which is marching to battle, as I have just found. I find Belle Boyd comes in handy for searching out Union assembly areas, Pinkerton for spying on CSA ports looking for weak points. In a recent PBEM I was besieging Richmond but couldn't see the state of the depot because Belle was standing in the way, masking it. Clever. Maybe could add the ability...

[1.13b] The base requirement seems to be 8 naval elements on rivers and coastal areas. Forts or entrenched troops (level 3+) with artillery will change this by +4 or -4 (for a minimum of 4 maximum of 12 I think). There do seem to be some anomalies - starting campaign #6 1862 Struggle for the Heartla...

Maybe the button should stay doing the same thing - like the other buttons, do nothing unless it is pressed. Changing the button graphic and rewording the tooltip descriptions would achieve this. Mostly stacks will not be along major rivers, and the player may not want to take the losses involved in...

An oddment is that all of the buttons (I think) by default do nothing - don't build a depot, enter a structure, form a division or corps, force march, destroy the railroad &c &c. The buttons get ignored if they are not pushed. The "engage passing ships" button is supposed to work in the reverse way:...

That would be like a cat chasing it's tail. Ne'er a truer word. A sample bombardment scenario five posts above, works back-to-front under the .exe from 1.13b and 1.13d both. Click to NOT Bombard passing ships with your units

My only point being that under 1.13d-beta when a unit is set to bombard passing enemy ships it does not; when it is set to NOT bombard it does, i.e. there is still this bug in 1.13d-beta.

[AACW.exe 1.13d beta; all other files 1.13b]

Confirmed that the ship bombard button is still working backwards.

Attached turn, Sherman is at Austin MS (south of Memphis) with a CSN fleet just downriver ready to play with the guns.
