I recall during ACW I had Leonidas Polk's Corps on very agressive when he smashed the Yankee troops and then he broke trough and was threathening Ohio and India. The problem was that he had to cross a river were he encountered a smaller Yankee Corps (or perhaps more or less a corps). The battle resu...

Don't forget fish. Who hasn't dreamt of a career as fish peddler? :neener: In all honesty, if you are a warmongerer when it comes to computer gaming ACW will be more fun for you. If you enjoy a more wholesome gameplay PoN is your game. Just don't try Japan ... things might get boring. :bonk: Too mu...

Question about lag time

I saw some remarks concerning the long lag times between turns ? I'm currently engaged to other "projects" and will try this game next week. Is the lag time comparable to AGEOD ACW ? I heard the game is so much better then the ACW game ? How can this be better ? Come on - such a great response ... :...

Kotik, that's not correct. Diplomacy was released after Victoria and was by far the worst game ever developed by Paradox. And essentially the worst game every by any company - in my personal experience. It was plain ugly, there were constant bugs, exploits and glitches and Paradox officially stopped...

Hello folks, with the risk of sounding harsh on Victoria I must confess it was a big disappointment when it was released. It didn't live up to standards. I still have all the original box and stuff. I truly think the AGEOD games are better conceived. I had much more fun with the ACW game engine comp...

Basicly, the German ambition to avoid an attrition war with the Entente was a little naive. So I think they can not escape the meat grinder. side remark = that's also the game about - as many nations make a very wide scaled armed conflict. Second, any good reason to gain the edge in the attritional ...

This week I had little time to read the forum. Still, my question remains - how can the CSA AI gather so much forces at the end of the game were it lacked so many conscription points. In my CSA game on hard - before I played the Union - I had a very similar "course of events". I even did a little be...

okies, after doing my math I had 18 out of 28 conscription points per turn taken from CSA and with their low morale troughout the game it just surprised me to see that they had so high manpower late game. Just good to know that there are no cheat rules. One question tough - how does the CSA get 30 c...

Before I tried my Union game on hard I tried the CSA game on hard - which I lost late 1864. Basicly all my armies were depleted because lack of reinforcments - because if you lose capital you can not recruit anymore. my point was how can the AI gather such a large army after all those years losing his manpower generating cities? what does it takes to topple the CSA

during my Union game on hard - I had following results = - capture of Richmond early 1862, - capture of Nashville and Memphis, mid 1862, - capture of Jackson, Vicksburg and New Orleand early 1863, - total occupation of Tenessee, Missisippi, North Carolina and Virginia late 1863, - capture of Atlanta...

what puzzles me most about the NM thing is the dramatic "swing" there is in results - and often these swings have a huge impact on the game - and basicly it's a very thin line. And often it happens in the last days of the 15 days of battle resolution. An example to state that - if your turn is playe...

I think the Charleston harbour is blockaded by a reef of bugs. Now continue laughing please.

Charleston harbour has missile defense system ?

It seems my blockade fleets are being sunk in one turn by the naval defenses of Charleston SC. My fleet (about 8-10) blockade ships goes to the entrance of the delta to blockade. During the game turn - a few "boom boom 's " go around and my fleet is gone ! I send a new one and the same thing happens...

Judging by the replies, I think your conclusion/suggestion is a little premature. I was nowhere ...

General Polk surprises me, and the game engine too

I was keeping the AI busy in Virginia (I'm CSA) with a decent ANV. In the meantime I had build up Polks corps of the Army of Tenessee - he had grown to 28.000 men - and it seemed the Union AI was putting more men into amph. invasions of th Carolinas then in taking Kentucky or Tenessee. So I send Pol...
