Re: Transports

As a thought experiment, let's say you have a stack on a fleet of transports that exactly holds the stack. You should not be able to take one transport away from the fleet because the stack would be split up in a way that makes no sense, like a Division would have to break up and part of it go with ...

Welcome...old friend!

The HQ and a Signal Co will both add 2 Command Points if in one stack. The Medic Co. will not improve the HQ's ability to boost cohesion recovery.

Re: Suicide of Bad Generals

"Why a Marine?"

Grant's stack is set to Red/Red and Enter the Structure. So they exit the ships and then immediately assault the fort in the same turn. I thought that qualified as an amphibious assault.

Re: Still Having Problems with VP's

Whatever you play, it should of course be fun. I once played in a chess tournament with our German allied unit. They had the draft, so the fellow I played was rated in the 2000s. I of course got shredded, but I will never forget that game! Each time you play, set your own goals and learn as much as ...

The Army commander gives a bonus or a loss to the Corps commander. So he can indirectly boost or lower the stack commander if he is also one of his Corps commanders.

Re: Suicide of Bad Generals

The turn Grant shows up, rail him to Annapolis to be stack commander of a Division containing a Marine and commanded by someone else that you want promoted. Take Fort Clark on the NC coast in an amphibious assault. This has always got me Grant promoted with seniority enough to command one of the Arm...

1. I always do my own replacements...and everything else. In Options, you can set this up. IIRC, auto-replacements uses a set amount of resources, which would explain why so few are being created. 2. I believe that ability level is set at 1. I've never had a General get ability level 2 in anything. ...

Perhaps the difficulty setting affects VPs? I almost always play for the NM victory, so I can't say for sure.

Re: Suicide of Bad Generals

Another option is to win battles with the General you want promoted. His seniority may eventually surpass the two less capable Generals. IIRC, you also get about 3 more available Army commands to assign each year.

You're welcome, as always Goodmongo! You can DL the CW2 DB from here: http://www.ageod-forum.com/viewtopic.php?f=340&t=35005 The files may be of interest to you. One deals with the Battle Plans, but it is rather opaque. It seems to reveal that the chosen BP may succeed or be countered, as well a...

Captain Orso, I labeled my post a hunch. http://www.ageod.net/agewiki/index.php?title=Bombard_and_Blockade&action=edit It also pertains to artillery on ships bombarding land targets, which would seem to me to be the same as artillery on ships bombarding, well, other ships. The Blockade Squadron ...

Re: Battle Planner Tutorial or Documentation

When the Battle Planner screen pops up, you get a general list of what you suspect the AI may do. I just click through each of my options. A plan with no added color outline is neutral. A plan with a red outline may put your forces at the mercy of an enemy plan. A green outline gives you the advanta...

Re: Promotions Can They Change Stats or Traits?

When Cooper shows up, you should find out his abilities and take advantage of them. Rail in some units for him to train. That's "playing the hand you're dealt". Not promoting someone so that he is a stumbling block for any other promotions is quite dubious. The CSA player is already the un...

Re: Promotions Can They Change Stats or Traits?

http://www.dtic.mil/dtic/tr/fulltext/u2/a259133.pdf During the CW, the two nations' armies grew phenomenally in numbers, but not so much in organizational skill. An army the size of a town or a city or a metropolis needs most of what those urban areas need every day. In addition, the army must be mo...

Something else is going on. The VP menu at the top tells me I started with 50, gained 27, lost 10 and 6, but somehow then have 95 total. No battles were fought.

Re: Still Having Problems with VP's

I checked and the math is not making any sense. I start with 3 objectives that each give 20 VPs, but I only get a total of 24 VPs per turn for holding these. I also lost 6 VPs the first turn, even though no battles happened and no structures were lost. So the VP system does not appear to be working ...

Some structures you can build produce money, but at a really bad ROI. I think that an armory, a powder mill and an IW produce $1.

IIRC, it's approximately two units of either dollars or WS.

P.S. I checked my test record and it is approximately 2 units per ship, not per unit. so about 5 per unit.

Re: Still Having Problems with VP's

IIRC, it's the objectives for the Western Campaign that give VP's. Those few city regions are what you have to take and hold. You also don't get VP's for regions where you have 50% MC or less. I don't have access to the game at work, so someone might check this. P.S.: http://www.ageod.net/agewiki/in...

Re: Cavalry and Stack Question

I started with a theoretical discussion of what the CSA might do to a hypothetical Union play and now gave a specific Union situation for discussion. As the Union, I restrict what the CSA might successfully try until I firmly have the initiative. In this, you no longer have to respond to Union threa...
