Goodbye, AGEod. I hope you put all the money you made from me to good use, because you won't get any more.

Re: Will Units only be Giants ? Or will AGEOD Style Units be an Option?

If I judge the scale right, those giants have their heads in the stratosphere. It must be hard to breathe.

Seriously, if the game is released with only those unit graphics, there is zero chance I will buy it. I'm a grown man, not a teeny-bopper. :papy:

Re: Civil War III

I'm not interested, short of a total re-think of the game. I suppose it's great for PBEM, since that seems the design intent. It is worthless against the AI and far too fiddly to even try playing both sides for whatever historical value might be derived. The game has too much trivial detail for a st...

Re: Rail lines

So, if I can scrape together 5 single CSA regiments capable of destroying/repairing railroads, I could send them to some obscure part of Florida where they would be safe and supplied. Then, they could each destroy the railroad (for 1.6 WS) in their district and rebuild it (for 1 WS) next turn. Each ...

solo play

I'm coming back to the game after a while away and would like to play it against myself (as I did so many board games). I seem to remember a thread about it, but searching turned up nothing. I would appreciate how-to instructions or a link to a thread.

Re: Combat Tactics

The fog of war could indeed descend on Civil War battlefields rapidly, under the right conditions. If you've been to a reenactment involving more than a few hundred, you've seen it. Such studies as I have read put the average range of infantry combat at 100-120 yards, not much more than the Napoleon...

Re: How much Hand-to-hand combat actually occured?

Those are interesting numbers, hanny1. I would have expected the percentage of such wounds to be more like 5%. I wonder if the relative lethality of different kinds of wounds might not be a factor. If wounds from edged weapons were less immediately lethal, the victims would show up at field hospital...

Re: Where does it show number of troops?

If the stack bar is open at the bottom of the screen, mouse over the gray box (combat power) below any of the NATO icons and total number of men, horses and guns will show up in tiny letters at the bottom of each unit box. You may have to do a bit of arithmetic to get actual number of infantry (for ...

In the decades following WWII, watching the quick and dramatic recovery of the German and Japanese economies, some wags argued that the best way to ensure your country's future prosperity was to lose a war with the United States. I really don't think it worked for the Confederacy.

I'm starting a game as the CSA and am into June, but no Polk. Anyone else had this happen? He's not my favorite so I almost didn't miss him, but anyone with 2 stars and high strategic rating is valuable early-on.

The game installer put mine in C:/Program Files (x86)/Matrix Games/Wars of Napoleon; don't know if that makes a difference. Anyway, the patch is an installer. You don't drop it into a folder, you unzip it to desktop and run it.

If, as W. Barksdale writes, there is no such thing as a partial replacement chit, maybe it works just as we have been told. Replace a whole element, use a whole chit. Chits cost differently for various types of elements since elements have different costs for conscripts, money or war supply. Replace...

Install BRS , then update with 1.06, which is comprehensive. Windows 7 puts the game in C:\Games. BRS is just scenarios, so I think needs to be installed in the same directory as the game.

I agree said operations reduced flow across the river to a trickle, but not the rest. Northern Florida produced a lot of beef at that time.
