I'm not sure of the mechanics off-hand. The only time I've ever really used it is when I thought someone was going to assault a small garrison for the purpose of milking promotions for their commanders.

Sorry for the bad news...

The return on this RGD is a grand total of 8 WS, not 48. The duration of 6 turns is how long it takes to sneak in that 8WS. Like Fox says, it can be counted if the Union takes control of the region.

Using the cavalry screen and the disinformation RGDs can increase the hide value of all your regular troops by 4. These RGD's cannot be countered when played in hostile territory. While a lack of military control causes a force to flip to offensive posture it does not guarantee that a battle will take place. I would guess that your opponent is getting messages about how his force successfully managed to retreat before battle. Perhaps from being overpowered by a decent margin ...

Farmfields can be destroyed. Like mines, the farmfields on map icon will not be removed but its destruction can be seen in the message log and the region ledger. Nope. The only thing that can reduce damage while retreating is to have a general with the 'screener' trait present. This trait will reduce damage taken by 50%.

Yup, that ASJ Def Bory Att battlelog is a bit weird. You'd think the Army of Mississippi would show up in the commit rolls on later rounds to support Bory's corps.
