Re: How did the game do?

Not everyone is adept in coding or modding especially if the script isn't easily readable which is the case with the AGEOD engine. :(

Still this game is my absolute favourite from AGEOD no doubt about that.

Re: Stopping CSA Leakers

Note important looking depots and rail junctions. Build some militia in these depots and create small groups of cavalry to respond to rail junction attacks.

The map is really clear about what areas are important luckily.

Why would you want to pursue any campaign in the far west? Doesn't make any sense to me.

Why does the south need to be defended? It ended slavery, I think that justifies a lot of what happened.

Re: The Civil war From the Southern Viewpoint

I have been watching lectures by Professor Gary W. Gallagher.
I think it would be absurd to think the war would not have extensive and non-bias research done by now as he clearly demonstrates this. Maybe you have been reading something very old?

Re: Command Ratings

Civil War commanders were bad at their job. I think the only one who grasped a bit of modern war was Grant, who won the war. The same can be seen in the Franco-Prussian war in which the French seemed amateurish and the Prussians won only by their aggressive strategy and artillery as they had people...

I think the new engine is what they are focusing on. Even WoS which was released this year was abandoned after the first patch.

Re: Command Ratings

Gary Grigsby games are notorious for how they show the German commanders as better than others almost always.
A game by wehraboos but with huge detail and complexity is a sad combo where German tank divisions are unbeatable supermen 99% of the time.

Pocus. I have wanted this feature for years. Let's say I have two corps in two different areas and want to attack a region adjacent to both controlled by mine but want to do this in a synchronized manner. Make it happen!

Re: Grand Alliance PBEM strategy guide thread

This will likely wrap it up as the game can develop in many unpredictable ways from there. I will update the first post when I see new decision bought armies and I will answer questions. The only objective town in Austria is Wien. This means the defence of Austria can be left quite limited but do no...

Re: CSA PBEM winning strategy?

I didn't take DC yet. It's under siege with the whole McDowell army inside so they can sortie and other troops can help.
I cannot starve them since the river port is open. It'll have to be a normal siege now.

Building CSA coastal art?

I thought since the fortresses are placed in a way which doesn't make a lot of sense. What if I built those coastal artilleries in Georgia and placed them where they can be really used effectively?

Re: CSA PBEM winning strategy?

Sound advice. I think the DC strategy is the best but combined with harassing actions in the west with all units you get for free, protecting at least Charleston or the other objective city near there and most importantly New Orleans. I think I just have to be very aggressive to force Union resource...

Re: Grand Alliance PBEM strategy guide thread

Glad to see that Ageod is still thriving! I just came back to the forums and this is my favorite kind of thread to read. This is the first ageod game that I'm not as well versed in the history. Which is hard for me bc I dont really know how to approach the overall strategy for either side bc I dont...

Charging into DC sounds like a death wish but I like it. I don't see I could really threathen it unless with a huge NM bonus for me vs the Union.

CSA PBEM winning strategy?

Having always been defeated as the CSA, I haven't figured out the way to properly play this side. Union is pretty straightforward with spamming arty and infantry until you just win but CSA feels like a big puzzle. You are forced on the defense in Virginia because of the local superiority of the enem...

First turns! Turn Eugene's army Orange-Red, he should be activated the first turn always(I only really play veteran mode) first move him to the region where Catinat's army is and then to Mantova. You can start killing Bourbon troops on the first turn and get 1-2 wins depending on if Catinat retreats...
