Re: Sons of War (RUS Gold Mod)

Thanks to everyone who continues to play the mod, leaveы comments and supports! I will briefly answer a couple of questions that were asked here. I do not plan to continue working on the mod, since it seems to me that most of it has already been done. I have ideas and plans, but the problem is that...

Negating the Manassas -10nm early loss PBEM

The NM loss causes the fighting ability of USA to go down so considerably that CSA can start winning battles almost at will, especially since there is no corps system yet in place in Virginia and it's easy to do in the west. The cohesion recovery is so extreme, CSA forces can go to an offensive batt...

Re: Replacements

The replacement to hit ratio is not the same as in other games. 200-300 is not that much really. The game is well balanced and you can easily replace those troops.

Re: Conscripts will forever remain the conscripts?

What I usually do as CSA, is put the guy who gives 1 exp per turn to the New Orleans Garrison to train a couple of divisions up slowly and the the guy who trains 2 regiments per turn in Tennesee because there's so many Kentuckians he can turn from volunteers to line infantry. In my previous game, I ...

You won anyway, there's no way they could break out effectively with just 10k of power.

What does the minipatch do?

So I never got the Gold version and it's now cheap so I thought I'd buy it. RUS is one of my favorite AGEOD titles but just never got around to buying the gold.
What does the minipatch in the pinned topic actually do in gameplay?

Re: Battle system: FOG2 or AGEod?

Can you ignore the tactical layer completely to just enjoy PBEM normally? I am not sure what exactly you mean by "tactical layer" Empire's or FOG2 so I'll answer both, kind of. :) Empires is entirely playable without FOG2. The very basis of the whole design is that fact - FOG2 integration...

Re: How did the game do?

Not everyone is adept in coding or modding especially if the script isn't easily readable which is the case with the AGEOD engine. :(

Still this game is my absolute favourite from AGEOD no doubt about that.

Note important looking depots and rail junctions. Build some militia in these depots and create small groups of cavalry to respond to rail junction attacks.

The map is really clear about what areas are important luckily.

Re: The Civil war From the Southern Viewpoint

I have been watching lectures by Professor Gary W. Gallagher.
I think it would be absurd to think the war would not have extensive and non-bias research done by now as he clearly demonstrates this. Maybe you have been reading something very old?

Re: Command Ratings

Civil War commanders were bad at their job. I think the only one who grasped a bit of modern war was Grant, who won the war. The same can be seen in the Franco-Prussian war in which the French seemed amateurish and the Prussians won only by their aggressive strategy and artillery as they had people...

Re: Command Ratings

Gary Grigsby games are notorious for how they show the German commanders as better than others almost always.
A game by wehraboos but with huge detail and complexity is a sad combo where German tank divisions are unbeatable supermen 99% of the time.
