Dear Phil, i will buy the digital download from you, but i still need a boxed version too, so i hope that Matrix releases a boxed version with a written manual because my printer has often malfunctions and i need a good backup for the game.So i will pay twice for the game and you earn more money.Ic...

That's just what it wasn't. The Emancipation Proclamation applied only to slaves in areas under Confederate control at the time. Union-controlled areas, including some former Confederate areas, could continue to own slaves until the 13th Amendment was passed -- after the war was over. I totally agr...

We are not planning a boxed version to start with, because the cost (and the shipping cost in addition) does not make it economically viable. I think those who prefer a CD boxed version with a manual would be prepared to pay extra for this. Some of us :p apy: don't trust digital downloads !!! :p le...

John C. Breckenridge

Just an amusing story about America's youngest vice-president, John C Breckenridge. After the Civil War, Breckenridge was in exile touring Europe. In Britain he received a luncheon invitation from a countess who, as it happened had also advertised for a new footman, the requirements being primarily ...

I am sure I read this story somewhere about Bragg in his early years in the military. He was both a company commander and quartermaster at a fort in the West :cwboy: . As company commander he wrote to the quartermaster asking for more supplies, and then as quartermaster replied to himself saying he ...

I remember now that Lincoln Memorial University was also funded by Col. Harland Sanders of KFC, and the original KFC was in Corbin.

The place where I work (Lincoln Memorial University) has one of the world's largest Lincoln Collections. Of more interest to this thread, they have a copy of the map Lincoln had hanging in the White House during the war. The original was given to O.O. Howard (who helped found the university) and he...

I agree "Jefferson Davis and his Generals" is a very good read, but Braxton Bragg has go to be in a class of his own for incompetence and unpopularity. There are lots of stories about him but I vaguely remember reading that the Confederate newspapers near the end of the war had a headline "Bragg tak...

An excellent book for background about the main characters in the Civil War is Partners in Command by Joseph T Glatthar . It is not too long and contains essays on the relationships bewtween the various leaders and the problems they faced. Lee and Jackson, Lincoln and McClellan, Davis and Johnston, ...

Martin's Fort has only been complete for 2-3 years. It was in 2003 so it probably was not complete then. Your settler/pioneers scenario sounds interesting. People have forgotten about all the Indian Wars east of the Mississippi, and the F&I War is only remembered for Wolfe's death at Quebec.

Yes, we went to the Sequoyah Birthplace Museum, and also Red Clay State Historic Park on the way up from Atlanta.
I missed Martin's Fort :p leure: but did see some bison up near the Red River Gorge in Kentucky.

Fort Loudon is pretty isolated today so it must have real wilderness in 1750. :indien: But they have done a superb job with the restoration, and it has a beautiful setting on the lake.
You are a lucky man LMUBill living in that region. :hat:

My CD arrived and even :p apy: I was able to install the game, and the up to date patch. So far it all works including the interesting 1813 scenario, any chance of a southern War of 1812 scenario in the future.
Thanks. :hat:

I'd like to be positive, but I just cannot get excited about any of the 6 suggestions offered. As wargaming topics are concerned, these are among the most obscure available . I have to believe that the team's time would be better spent on another project with broader appeal. Frederick the Great cam...

I think there is a tipping point where too many features mean the game ceases to be enjoyable and becomes a chore. I think BoA and ACW have the potential to be one of those games you just go back to over and over again. Please stick with the strategic overview and don't go down the micromanagement r...

1600-1900
Well there is plenty of scope there, not exactly a peaceful time.
War of the Spanish Succession with Marlborough and his victories at Blenheim etc. would seem to be a good match.

Those Ancient Wars would be very cool, and how about The Northern Wars 1558-1721 [Peter the Great, Charles XII of Sweden, the rise of Muscovy/Russia ] , The Hundred Years War [a French victory], or the Reconquista of Spain. The BoA strategic game system seems ideal for these wars that took place ove...

The Thirty Years War and the Frederick the Great would seem to be ideal subjects for the BoA game engine.

The game system seems like it would be ideal for the Thirty Years War, have you any plans for other games apart from the ACW.
I think I might be asking for more help with technical tasks like where to install the patch etc.

Advice please

I have ordered BoA on the CD rom but after reading the forums and reviews I was impatient and now have downloaded the demo.

Before I load up the full game from the CD do I have to uninstall the demo version?
Sorry if this has been answered somewhere else. :indien:
