Yes, it sounds like a permission error in your install directory, please try Durk's suggestion if that doesn't work let us know.

Iirc you need two full supply wagons (So total of 8 supply elements). Are either of the supply wagons less than 4 elements?

Once you get the hang of it, definitely play some PBEM, it's a fantastic PBEM game. Playing as the Union trying to outmaneuver a wily Confederate player is golden gaming.

Re: Marching to the sound of guns and inactive leaders

They can but the chance to is reduced (since it's based on how long it takes the stack to march to the battle region). In general it's usually reliable on defense but not so much on attack.

Re: More of the same

Are you referring to the % progress shown? If so each level is twice the amount before it. So 20 points going from lvl1 to 2 would show as 20% but 20 pts from 2 to 3 would only show 10% gain and 3 to 4 shows 5%. It's also rounded down to nearest 10% for the display. I suspect this is your situation....

Re: AGEOD's best game for PBEM?

CW2 is probably the most purely enjoyable game in PBEM. Though it can also be frustrating if there is a big disparity in AGEOD experience level between players. It can also become very lop-sided in a few turns if NM takes a big turn. I personally think BOA2:WIA is the best PBEM balanced game AGEOD h...

Re: Zomby general

This is WAD, generals don't typically die when a unit is destroyed, instead they are sent to a nearby town or city and locked for a variable number of turns (while recuperating and/or reorganizing). This is the same in all AGEOD titles.

Minesweepers won't remove the mines, but having them in the fleet will mitigate some of the damage sustained moving through the minefield.

Re: Critical Error When Resolving Turn

Did you switch hosts at some point?

This definitely looks like a problem with two versions of the game. The error is being thrown when the host engine isn't able to determine one of the group variables in the save file.

Re: Stumped again

You can still have two GHQ's as Germany, it's just that Hindenburg isn't the next in line for seniority to get it. The same tooltip which tells you Hindenburg will cost X VP and Y NM to promote should tell you who he would be bypassing... that person can be promoted to GHQ with no penalty. The War W...

Re: Stumped again

RE: Hindenburg, this is WAD for the Moltke Plan. Basically, opting to go east first means Moltke takes over as the GHQ in charge, and Hindenburg no longer gets to automatically take over - it 's one of the penalties for taking this plan. Hindenburg still makes a strong army commander though, and he ...

Re: Next Patch ETA ?

The AI is not only the engine, it can be guided or oriented or whatever you may call it. Could be wrong, but RUS Gold is considered to have the best AI in any Ageod game, if you look at the sct files with AI in the name there are 10 files, in all around 590 kb in size. In EAW 3 files, and 88 kb. Co...

Re: Next Patch ETA ?

EAW patch will have to wait until after WSS is finished. I've got a list of items to look into at that point though. Regarding AI, I doubt there will be a whole lot of change in this area. The AI is controlled at the game engine level, and I doubt there will be a lot of core changes to the AGEOD eng...

Re: 2 questions regarding HQ

In August and September 1914, you can push your luck quite a bit, and to a lesser extent through the rest of 1914, but after that it becomes a 1-2 regions at a time type of thing. This is WAD to simulate WW1 trench warfare setting in.

Re: 2 questions regarding HQ

Durk is referring to the "March to the Sound of the Guns" feature of the AGE engine. If a combat occurs, any friendly stacks adjacent to the combat have a chance of coming to join the combat if they pass certain checks. This chance is much higher (+50 IIRC) if they are part of the same OOB...

Re: To End All Wars Mod - Ultimate Enhancement Mod

Technically it is SP compatible, I just can't promise the effectiveness of the AI. The engine AI isn't very good at understanding allies and ally strength, just comparing its power to an enemy. This is why we went with only 3 factions in vanilla, it wouldn't make for a solid SP experience with 11 as...

Re: Was the rail pool thing ever fixed ?

Yes (actually, IIRC, we doubled the weight of infantry elements rather than changing the rail pool, so it wouldn't impact supply distribution). If you are playing with Centrals, you'll still have plenty of rail pool no matter what. The Western Entente have a little trouble but not much after 1914, t...

Re: Congratulate AGEod

Sorry to hear you've stopped playing it Conrad. The AGE engine does have its quirks, and it's been around quite a long time now (about 10 years) so it doesn't have all the nice bells and whistles. It was also largely coded by Pocus on his own, which is no small feat. But what AGE has going for it, I...

Re: What do Austria-Hungary units do in East Prussia in early 1915 ?

The research system does not hide each faction's tech progress. This is WAD, and at this point would require a massive rewrite to hide it via the interface for FOW. I can understand the immersion concern, but not likely to change due to complexity of it.

You can do this now, but you have to load the turn up as one Entente faction, plot orders, then save (not end turn!). Then load up the other Entente faction, plot orders, save, and end turn. The orders saved for the first faction will be used.

Re: Entente Use of Japanese in PBEM

Yes, they are supposed to transfer back (may not apply to destroyers, been a while, I'd have to check). Basically, if you leave the off-map Pacific areas with Japanese units, they should be teleported back to Japan via event. I'd have to research what's up if this isn't working properly.

Re: Eastern Entante cant play any political options ?

Somewhat late in beta testing, it became a little clunky having a ton of events all unlock on the same turn, so we added some probabilities (mostly 25% or 33%) to the unlocking of events to give them a little bit of variability and space out the unlocks a bit. It normally doesn't take long to unlock...
