I'd say WW2 Europe. I know it's been done to death, but it's the best audience grabber :) Plus, I'd love to see an AGEOD style game with proper air modeling.

The turn you promote a commander to lead a combined unit, they have their stats reduced by 1, for that turn only. It is indeed temporary.

Nikel, that may be the case. Some of the regions do not lock, but instead become absorbed by Centrals (roughly the same areas which became defacto satellites after Brest-Litovsk). Other areas are set to BlockState = 2, which looks like it may destroy units if they aren't close to a friendly region. ...

Yeah, I believe the starting Austrian units exceed the force pool for Austria (being the professional army) so they don't come back for being rebuilt.

Personally, I think it should remain this way, as it's already quite difficult to win this scenario as the French.

Athena is the default icon for AGE engine (Athena being the name of the AI). WSS just doesn't have a special icon like most AGEOD games, so it uses the default :)

Which scenario are you experiencing these issues in? I just ran through the 1701 scenario and it appears to be working in the initial tests. If you have saves they would be helpful as well. It's due to the way replacements are calculated in AGEOD engine. Replacement cost is an average of the cost of all units using the replacement chit, which can sometimes skew the replacement costs up if there are large variances in the unit cost utilizing the replacement.

This is simply due to the joining of Italy to Western Entente and Turkey to Central Powers. The message is automatically thrown when AbsorbFaction command is run on the joins of these factions.

I like ExpertAI myself, but it has been about 6 months since I played it. Whatever you do, if playing SP, get some AI mod. The game is practically unplayable with vanilla AI.

Yeah, one of the infantry upgrades changes the OOB from 4 brigades to 3 (to simulate the gradual change from square to triangular divisions). In-game, this does much what it accomplished IRL, the consolidation of much-needed forces. In return, the firepower is increased a bit.

The 500 turn locked divisions are permanent garrisons. There are some forces which unlock in the first 4-8 turns (depending on nation) to simulate the gradual mobilization of forces. If you highlight over a stack it will tell you how many turns it is locked.

Once you get the hang of it, definitely play some PBEM, it's a fantastic PBEM game. Playing as the Union trying to outmaneuver a wily Confederate player is golden gaming.

They can but the chance to is reduced (since it's based on how long it takes the stack to march to the battle region). In general it's usually reliable on defense but not so much on attack.

Are you referring to the % progress shown? If so each level is twice the amount before it. So 20 points going from lvl1 to 2 would show as 20% but 20 pts from 2 to 3 would only show 10% gain and 3 to 4 shows 5%. It's also rounded down to nearest 10% for the display. I suspect this is your situation....

This is WAD, generals don't typically die when a unit is destroyed, instead they are sent to a nearby town or city and locked for a variable number of turns (while recuperating and/or reorganizing). This is the same in all AGEOD titles.
