Re: Why are Russian Supply Train replacements hideously expensive (in WS)?

It's due to the way replacements are calculated in AGEOD engine. Replacement cost is an average of the cost of all units using the replacement chit, which can sometimes skew the replacement costs up if there are large variances in the unit cost utilizing the replacement.

No, submarines do not count (nor do destroyers). It needs to be cruisers and/or battleships.

Re: Explanation please

During the signing of the peace event, the CP units are supposed to be moved back to their capital. I will have to look at the event files to see why they may not be doing so, I suspect it's an oversight on some of the areas in Russia being included in the transport area. I will check it out once ba...

Hmm, that doesn't sound right for the Hungarians. Can you post your save?

Are you sure you have replacements available to replace the losses?

This is simply due to the joining of Italy to Western Entente and Turkey to Central Powers. The message is automatically thrown when AbsorbFaction command is run on the joins of these factions.

I like ExpertAI myself, but it has been about 6 months since I played it. Whatever you do, if playing SP, get some AI mod. The game is practically unplayable with vanilla AI.

Re: Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and what are you doing these days thread!

Merry Christmas guys! Re: games, if you are looking at Paradox ones, EU4 with the latest additions is by far their best game. Fantastic thru and thru. It's also on sale quite a bit (75%ish) up until the last DLC or two, so a good time to get it on discount. Crusader Kings 2 is good as well, though E...

Re: Points to Know - Central Powers

What he's referring to is the 3-star GHQ stack does not MTSG to support other stacks (his post is carry-over terminology from CW2 where the 3-star GHQ stack is the Army HQ - in EAW the GHQ is the actual front GHQ, such as Moltke, Joffre, etc). I'm not 100% sure on the mechanics here myself, as I've ...

Re: German locked "city" divisions?

Any fixed unit unfixes if an enemy unit comes into contact with it. So what you may be experiencing is an enemy unit moves through the region, causing the fixed unit to unfix, then retreats before combat. There is no proximity check, they can only be unfixed if an enemy unit moves into the region wi...

Re: Tech advance changes Hungarian infantry's OOB?

Yeah, one of the infantry upgrades changes the OOB from 4 brigades to 3 (to simulate the gradual change from square to triangular divisions). In-game, this does much what it accomplished IRL, the consolidation of much-needed forces. In return, the firepower is increased a bit.

Re: German locked "city" divisions?

The 500 turn locked divisions are permanent garrisons. There are some forces which unlock in the first 4-8 turns (depending on nation) to simulate the gradual mobilization of forces. If you highlight over a stack it will tell you how many turns it is locked.

They can but the chance to is reduced (since it's based on how long it takes the stack to march to the battle region). In general it's usually reliable on defense but not so much on attack.

Are you referring to the % progress shown? If so each level is twice the amount before it. So 20 points going from lvl1 to 2 would show as 20% but 20 pts from 2 to 3 would only show 10% gain and 3 to 4 shows 5%. It's also rounded down to nearest 10% for the display. I suspect this is your situation....

Re: AGEOD's best game for PBEM?

CW2 is probably the most purely enjoyable game in PBEM. Though it can also be frustrating if there is a big disparity in AGEOD experience level between players. It can also become very lop-sided in a few turns if NM takes a big turn. I personally think BOA2:WIA is the best PBEM balanced game AGEOD h...

This is WAD, generals don't typically die when a unit is destroyed, instead they are sent to a nearby town or city and locked for a variable number of turns (while recuperating and/or reorganizing). This is the same in all AGEOD titles.

Did you switch hosts at some point?

This definitely looks like a problem with two versions of the game. The error is being thrown when the host engine isn't able to determine one of the group variables in the save file.

You can still have two GHQ's as Germany, it's just that Hindenburg isn't the next in line for seniority to get it. RE: Hindenburg, this is WAD for the Moltke Plan. Basically, opting to go east first means Moltke takes over as the GHQ in charge, and Hindenburg no longer gets to automatically take over - it 's one of the penalties for taking this plan. Hindenburg still makes a strong army commander though, and he ...

Re: Next Patch ETA ?

The AI is not only the engine, it can be guided or oriented or whatever you may call it. EAW patch will have to wait until after WSS is finished. I've got a list of items to look into at that point though. Regarding AI, I doubt there will be a whole lot of change in this area. The AI is controlled at the game engine level, and I doubt there will be a lot of core changes to the AGEOD eng...

In August and September 1914, you can push your luck quite a bit, and to a lesser extent through the rest of 1914, but after that it becomes a 1-2 regions at a time type of thing. This is WAD to simulate WW1 trench warfare setting in.
