Re: Good Luck1

Yeah, seeing this title in the Italian presentation videos made me draw my wallet and get this game, remembering all the great times I had with many older AGEOD games. Hope this will be a big hit!

Because of their atrocities against civilians, which were large scale.

And which were not committed in a civil war - where they tend to be unavoidable - but in a controlled war of foreign influence.

One more remark: pointing at a "good" side is hard in this conflict, but condemning France as a "bad" side here is pretty obvious to me.

I see the 30 Years War and the Dutch Revolt as a common conflict: they ended both in the same peace treaty of Westphalia And the French civil war with Calvinist/Catholic Henry IV of Navarra was similarly an integral part of this conflict in the late 16th century. The Habsburg armies in the Netherla...

To all the experts: was there a clear-cut "good" side in this conflict? Being Dutch, Northern Dutch, that is, the indoctrination by national history has me emotionally regard the Protestant side to be the good side. Bump. I have been playing this scenario, and indeed the French have hardly anything on the Eastern border, and also, historically, hardly anything near Paris. And the French don't have a GHQ. Until now I assumed this represented the attack on the border with Germany that was not supposed to be part ...

@Erik- yes, it is a big loophole. Esp. if you play with "Delayed commitment" (which is a-historical in WW1) it is sometimes too stupid and such results do occur. So for EAW the interim solution is to set Commitment on the smallest delay. However, I also noticed this in other games, where commitment...

But there was 100% WE MC when the CP stack entered. Can it be that the battle delay carries the start of battle over to the next turn? But if the entering stack then can switch to defensive posture, we have a loophole in the game rules that are meant to have an attack by a force that enters an enemy...

With the terrain overlay.

Each map overlay has special tooltip content.
Press the keys 1, 2, 3 etc. and look at the tooltips. Very instructive.

Disappearing French militia recruitments?

I am playing the Western Front scenario as WE against the AI. I started to recruit the better French infantry divisions first, because they take a bit longer, but are much better, but when I wanted to recruit the Militia divisions on turn 2 they were no longer available for recruitment. Is this by d...

"Frontage open 4" means that that particular infantry element will only take up 4 spaces of the "x" amount allotted to open terrain Hmm, this is the opposite from what Pocus says, if I am not befuddled about this: If a closed terrain allows for 60 points of frontage worth and an element has a cost ...

I can verify that "frontage open 4" and "frontage closed 12" applies to all of the Russian infantry units (elements) checked thus far. Why would there be less units able to fight in open than in close? One would expect the opposite. Or does this reflect the vulnerability in open terrain that forces...

Western Scenario

I am giving EAW a new trial run, and am currently playing the Western 1914 Scenario as Entente.
